Civilian Instructor’s Induction Course

Course Objectives:

  • To provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a Civilian Instructor in the ATC.
  • To ensure Civilian Instructors are aware of Corps Health, Safety & Duty of Care Policy.
  • To provide an overview of ATC & RAF Organisation & Structure.
  • To give training in Instructional Techniques.
  • To provide information on training opportunities at Unit, Wing and Corps level that will allow individuals to develop their skills, knowledge and experience further thus enhancing their effectiveness as an instructor.
  • To provide details for those interested in developing their ATC career further.
  • To provide information for Committee Chairpersons.

Target Audience:

The course is open to all Civilian Instructors and Cadet SNCO’s (over 18yrs of age) who are considering Civilian Instructor service. Squadron Chairpersons may also attend should they wish to develop their understanding of the ACO. It should be noted that this course is mandatory for all newly appointed Civilian Instructors within the first 12 months of service.

Course Content:

The course content includes the following:

  • Aims of the ATC
  • CI Standards / Status / Roles
  • ATC & RAF Structure & Organisation
  • SNCO Mess Tour
  • Health & Safety / Duty of Care / ATC Insurance
  • Introduction to Bader
  • Rank Structure – Cdt / Sqn / Wing
  • Further Training Opportunities
  • Cadet Instructional Theroy
  • Group Lesson Presentations (practical) & analysis

Course Duration:

The course is residential and starts at 0900 hrs on Saturday and finishes approximately 1600 hrs on Sunday.

Course Dates:

Course 1/12: 3-4 March 2012 – RAF Wittering (Provisional)
Course 2/12: 23-24 June 2012 – RAF Wittering (Provisional)
Course 3/12: 13-14 October 2012 – RAF Wittering (Provisional)

Cost:

£5.00 for the weekend, which includes accommodation, messing & refreshments.
