Squadron Training Officers’ Workshop

Workshop Objectives:

  • To provide an overview of the typical duties & responsibilities relating to the role of Squadron Training Officer.
  • To assist individuals in identifying current guidelines / procedures, health & safety implications and resource information for typical training activities within the Air Cadet Organisation.
  • Highlight further training opportunities (ATC & RAF sponsored courses) and the wider Cadet training syllabus i.e. vocational awards.
  • To provide an opportunity to discuss with fellow Training Officers’ ideas and good practice for future consideration.

Target Audience:

The workshop is open to all uniform staff, Civilian Instructors and Instructor Cadets who are either appointed the role of Squadron Training Officer / Deputy or considering undertaking this role in the near future.

Workshop Content:

The workshop content includes the following:

  • Typical Duties & Responsibilities of the Sqn Trg off
  • The Corps’ Syllabus & Authorized Activities
  • Management of the Cadet Academic Syllabus
  • BTEC Vocational Awards (Cadet & Staff)
  • Wing First Class Cadet Exam
  • Review of Training Programme Formats & Content
  • Sources of Training Information & Tools
  • Wing, HQAC & RAF Courses inc. BASIC Requirements
  • H&S / Risk Assessments / ATC Insurance Scheme

Workshop Duration:

The workshop starts at 0900 hrs on Sunday and finishes approximately 1630 hrs.

£1.00 for refreshments (pack lunches will be required).
