WSO 1 Sqn Ldr Andy Pass

Role: WSO1 – Deputy OC Wing, Wing Training Officer (Adult Development), Wing Health & Safety Co-ordinator and Wing Child Protection Advisor

Biography:
- Joined the ATC in April 1988 at 2195 (Long Eaton) Sqn, then part of East Midlands Wing.
- Progressed through the Cadet NCO rank structure reaching CWO in October 1994.
- Transferred to 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron as part of the adult staff development policy and was later commissioned into the RAFVR (T) branch as a Pilot Officer in December 1996.
- In January 1997 transferred to 2425 (Nottingham Airport) Squadron as a Squadron Officer undertaking the Training Officer & Shooting Officer roles.
- Promoted to Flight Lieutenant & appointed Officer Commanding 1359 (Beeston) Squadron in December 1997.
- Transferred into the NEP pool due to a civilian occupation secondment away from the Midlands. Later transferring back into the Wing at 1936 (Newton) Squadron, briefly as a Squadron Officer and then promoted to Officer Commanding in February 2000.
- Appointed as Prospective Uniform Course Director for South & East Midlands Wing in 2000, post held between 2000 and 2002.
- Joined the Wing Staff team for South & East Midlands Wing in May 2002 as the Wing Physical Education Officer, post held between 2002 and 2005.
- Promoted to Squadron Leader in February 2004.
- Changed Wing Staff role in September 2005 to Wing Training Officer – Adult Development, predominately responsible for the Wing C.I. & P.U. courses. In addition, also appointed as the Wing Health & Safety Co-ordinator.
- Appointed Deputy OC Wing in December 2010. In Addition undertaking the new role of Wing Child Protection Advisor upon introduction by HQ Air Cadets.
- Formal qualifications include Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Graduateship Award in Youth Management & Training (GCGI), PTLLS and is a Member of the Institute of Leadership & Management (MInstLM).
Civilian Occupation:
Facilities Manager for a Further Education College.
