Initial NCO Course

Course Objective:

To provide an overview of the roles, responsibilities and standards expected of a Junior NCO with the Air Training Corps.

Target Audience:

This course is aimed primarily at Junior NCO’s but is suitable for all NCO’s who have not received any previous formal training. Places may also be available to Cadets who are seriously being considered for promotion to Corporal.

All Cadets nominated should be proficient in all areas covered in the Basic Cadet syllabus and have a reasonable personal proficiency in drill.

Course Content:

The course content includes the following:

  • Role of a Junior NCO
  • Dress Regulations
  • Discipline
  • Maintenance of Uniform
  • Drill
  • Leadership / Leadership Theory
  • Group Discussions / Scenarios
  • Presentation Techniques
  • Lesson Planning
  • Presentation Skills

Course Duration:

The course is residential and starts at 1930 hrs on Friday and finishes at 1700 hrs on Sunday.

Cost:

£5.00 for the weekend, which includes messing, refreshments and a colour course photograph.

Course INCO 1/10: 26/03/09 – 28/03/10 – RAF Cottesmore (23 places)
Course INCO 2/10: 30/07/10 – 01/08/10 – RAF Cottesmore (23 places)
Course INCO 3/10: 29/10/10 – 31/10/10 – RAF Cottesmore (23 places)
