Alongside flying and gliding, the Air Cadets of Loughborough have been working particularly hard to obtain 100 new qualifications in just 6 months! The latest intake of recruits have all completed their Foundation certificate for indoor climbing, whilst the older cadets have been completing academic training to be awarded BTECs in Uniformed Public Services to help with their future University applications. Four Cadets completed a Method of Instruction course to help them teach the younger Cadets and two of our staff are now qualified Activity First Aiders. Most recently 2 of our staff members and 2 of our Staff Cadets have attended a Health & Safety and Risk Assessment Course and also a short course on tutoring our latest qualification that can now be gained by the cadets, the Entry Level Award for Health & Safety. This award has been developed so that the cadets can do some fun activities, learn about relevant health & safety and gain a qualification. On a more military note we have 8 new marksmen on the Squadron, including a Corps marksman which is the highest achievable and a newly qualified Skill at Arms Instructor. We have also had Cadets complete their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, along with staff and Cadets enrolling for their Gold DofE Award this year.
