1188 (Coalville) Squadron Presentation Night

This month cadets from 1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Training Corps received certificates and awards at their annual Presentation Night.

Drill and Ceremonial Award – Cadet Hargadon

This year the presentation night coincided with the squadron’s 73rd anniversary. Every year the hard work of the cadets is recognised with awards at the presentation night and this year was no exception. The trophies and certificates were presented to the cadets, in front of their families by Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson OBE, Police Inspector Helena Bhakta, the NW Leics Local Policing Unit Commander, Cllr Geraint Jones Chairman of NW Leicestershire and Flight Lieutenant Jackie Glover the squadron’s commanding officer.

Most Enterprising Cadet – Corporal Benjamin

There were certificates for marksmen shooting, radio operator certificates, a Btec in Public Services and a food hygiene certificate.

The trophies awarded were:-

Community Award – Cadet Johnson
Vin Shepherd Cup for Best Attendance – Corporal Hart
Best Sports Cadet – Sergeant Robinson
John Bancroft Endeavour Trophy – Cadet Bell
Most Enterprising Cadet – Corporal Benjamin
Most Promising New Cadet – Cadet Potter
Squadron Shooting Award – Sergeant Flude
Leon Poxon Memorial Air Rifle – Corporal Graham
Sharlot Hammond Trophy for Adventure Training – Sergeant Flude

RAFA Cup , Cadet of the Year – Cadet Warrant Officer Clark

Flight Lieutenant Jackie Glover RAF VR (T) said “ It was an enjoyable night, it is very important to recognise the achievements of the cadets and for their families to be able to show their support for them.” She thanked her staff that have helped her settle into the squadron and also into her new role as commanding officer. She also outlined her plans for the future. She is hoping to increase the number of cadets and also for the squadron to win more trophies.
