126 (City of Derby) Squadron have won the Tom Perry Cup in a shooting competition for all Cadet Forces in Derbyshire.
The team shot their way to victory against Army, Navy and Air Cadets from across Derbyshire. The team from 126 Squadron were defending their title at the competition that is organised annually by the Royal Air Force Association. Derby have won this competition now for 4 consecutive years.
The 5-man team from 126 Squadron was led by team captain Flt Sgt Taisiya Marsh. The team not only won the competition overall by 50 clear points but the individual team members came 1st to 5th by achieving the best individual scores on the night. Top shot on the night was Corporal Dean Cottrill. He said, “We are very proud to win this local shooting competition. It means a lot to us to defend our title as the best cadet shooting squadron in Derbyshire.”
The Derby shooting team is coached by Adult Sgt Ben Hirst and Adult Sgt Helen Southall who dedicate many hours training the team. They are now working hard with the shooting team to focus on competitions in 2011 and to defend some of the many trophies they have won this year.
