1359 (Beeston) Sqn bring Christmas cheer to children

Article posted: Jan 02, 2009 by Sqn Ldr Wilson

On Christmas Eve four cadets and two members of staff from 1359 (Beeston) Sqn visited ward E38 of the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. They took with them gifts for the children on the ward who would be staying in hospital over the Christmas period.

The gifts were donated by cadets from the squadron at their Winter Ball held earlier in December. It was decided that rather than the cadets paying for a ticket they would need to bring a gift to gain admission which would then be donated to the QMC.

The cadets were met by Hospital Play Specialist, Michelle Rhodes, who had helped make the necessary arrangements for the visit. Two young patients helped with the placing of the gifts around the tree, Melissa Caruana and Roman Cusick with his mother Mandy. Roman was one of two children who had decorated the wards tree and so was especially keen to help with the presents!

The squadron were represented by Flying Office Gareth Fowler, CWO’s Marie Grant and Laura Butcher, Cpl Adam Hill and Cadet James Grant.
