Following their success in the drill competition at the South and East Midlands Wing Field Day in July the team from 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, led by Cadet Warrant Officer Marie Grant, have spent numerous hours practising the sequence and ensuring that their uniform was to the highest standard in readiness for participation at the Central and East Region Field Day.
This was held on Sunday 13th September at RAF Wittering, the scene of their earlier success at Wing level. And the practice and preparation paid off as Beeston were named winners of the Regional Wing Field Day Drill Competition with CWO Grant winning the Best NCO in Charge Drill Squad award, again replicating her success at Wing level. The team will now go on to represent Central and East Region at Corps level later this year.
Officer Commanding 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Flt Lt Phil Bannister VR (T), said “This is an excellent result for the Squadron and the Wing and just reward for the cadets who have given up a lot of their time to ensure they were fully prepared for the competition. Congratulations to them all from myself and the staff and we now look forward to taking on the rest of the Corps.”
