On Sunday 7th February, the day when the ATC kicks off the celebrations for its 75th birthday, cadets and staff from 1360 (Stapleford & Sandiacre) and 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadrons attended a Sunday mass service at St Laurence’s Church, Long Eaton.
The Squadron’s banners alongside those of the Royal British Legion and RAFA, with 1360’s Union were paraded and blessed in church. Joining the Squadrons for the service, was the Mayor of Erewash Val Custance, accompanied by her Mayor’s Cadet from 348 (Ilkeston) Squadron and local MP Maggie Throup.
During the service, Rev Roger Jupp spoke about the cadet’s promise and the service that young people are passionate about as members of the ATC. A reading was delivered by Cpl Emi Ephraim (2195 Sqn) and the collection was taken by four cadets.
Following the service, the cadets gathered for a photo before going to the Church hall for tea and biscuits.
This service was not the only one in attendance with cadets from 1360- the Squadron’s banner team, accompanied by FS (ATC) James Glover are in London at St Clement Danes chapel with HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, our Honourary Group Captain Carol Vorderman and Commandant Air Cadets Air Commodore McCafferty.
This is just the start of a series of celebrations for the 75th year! Thank you to all of the cadets who turned up looking so smart!
