For the first time, the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Mrs Jeannie Packer, came to visit 138 (1st Nottingham) squadron. It was a pleasure to have the Lord Mayor at our squadron showing her our achievements.
The evening kicked off with out commanding officer, Flight Lieutenant Harrison, giving a brief history of 138 squadron. A team of cadets then carried on the rest of the evening with a detailed presentation of what the Air Training Corps has to offer, how goals can be achieved with hard work and the soul in which the squadron is based on; Captain Albert Ball.
The Lord Mayor thoroughly enjoyed the presentation which was delightful to know. For the rest of the evening cadets gave the Lord Mayor a guided tour of the squadron. She had the opportunity to see our junior cadets improve with their drill and see the cadets amongst the squadron learn about the No 8 rifle. On final parade, there were a couple of BTECs to hand out and an honour given to the Lord Mayor of holding Captain Albert Ball’s sword.
At the end of the evening we invited the Lord Mayor to come to our Dining in Night in 2010, she accepted our invitation, ending the evening on a positive note.
