138 supports British Legion Poppy Appeal

On Saturday 8th November it may have been cold and wet but this did not stop several cadets from the squadron volunteering to support the British Legion in poppy selling.

We took over from the army cadets at Tesco’s at Carlton, Morrison’s at Netherfield and walking around the Victoria Retail park to sell poppies and raise awareness of the work the British legion do, both for veterans and serving service men and women.

The cadets felt privileged to help in this small way and were overwhelmed by the generosity of the shoppers during this day. It was great to have some of the many knitted poppies which had been on display at the Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery, and to have a wide variety of Royal British Legion merchandise for the public to make a charitable donation for.

We hope that we helped the British Legion raise more funds than in previous years and as a squadron we were proud and honoured to do this on the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
