Police Community Support Officers from the Wigston Local Policing Unit recently took time off the beat to visited cadets at 1461 Wigston Squadron.
The Officers, Hardip Kaur and Mat Lapidge, explained how the PCSO’s work closely with Police Officers and were able to give the cadets an insight into the different roles that the Police undertake, from armed response units and dog units to specialist investigation teams.
The cadets that had an opportunity to get hands on with some of the equipment that the officers use on a daily basis as well as special riot and tactical entry gear.
Cpl Josh Stubberfield said “ This was a great chance to see what the Police get up to and I now know all about the different roles. I would love to be able to use the enforcer to open locked doors!!!2

Flight Sergeant ATC Rob Gardner, Training Officer at 1461 who arranged the event said” this is a wonderful opportunity for the cadets to understand what the local Police do and how they work. Its great that we are able to get this sort of support from them.”
