On Saturday the 15th of February cadets from 1461 came together alongside 29 other squadrons to compete in the annual Wing Cross Country competition.

With 5 different age categories with up to 4 cadets in each, competition is tough! However this didn’t stop cadets from Wigston as they arrived at RAF Wittering nice and early ready for the day. With each category starting their race at different times, it was a great atmosphere as cadets cheered each other on at the beginning and end of the 5km race. With lots of hills, mixed terrain and the wind having its usual chill the race was tough but cadets stayed enthusiastic and came out with some great results, with senior girls coming 3rd and Sgt Woodford coming first in her race.

“It’s always tough but it’s a good achievement and feeling once you’ve finished” said Cpl Hardy. With the first Wing Sports event of the year done cadets of 1461 look forward to the next competition!
