On Monday 2nd February 2015, 1936 (Newton) Squadron saw the first Junior Cadet Flight of the year partake in their passing out parade. For the seven cadets involved, it would be a night they would not forget; they would be officially enrolled as Newton’s newest cadets.
During the past four months in the Junior Cadet Flight, they have had time to get to know each other, learn from each other’s mistakes and progress and learn about the Air Training Corps. For the seven cadets involved, they would know be able to get involved in many new things; overseas camps, Wing events, annual camps, flying and shooting, to name but a few.
The JCF flight is now fully enrolled and can take part in more activities with the cadets in their new flights. The seven JCF who became cadets are; Megan Miller, Callum Miller, Laurie Pereira, Charlotte Weston, Peter Wallace, Amy Geary and Billy Bell.
After an informal chat with parents and cadets, positive feedback was received about their Cadet Experience. Mr Miller said, “that he is proud for his children and that it’s promising and full of future prospects.” Mr Bell believes the ATC to provide experiences for all cadets and looks great on their CVs! The other parents agree that, “the Air Cadets is a great place to be yourself, there are lots of nice people and it is very character building.”
