1936 Passing Out Parade

Article posted: Feb 25, 2016 by Flt Lt Rayson-Flynn

On Wednesday 17th February, 1936 Newton Squadron held a passing out parade for its first junior cadet flight of 2016. In the flight were six prosperous new cadets: Amy Layhe, Grace Glover, Joseph Hunt, Lewis Seyfert, Archie Dillon and Oliver Dyble. The cadets had been training religiously for months, studying topics from Initial Expedition Training to the Principles of Flight to complete their basic cadet training.

Family and friends attended the ceremony to welcome the cadets into the Air Training Corps. During the evening, the cadet promise was recited, a blessing given by the Squadron Padre and the certificates given out to the deserving individuals.

Cadet Seyfert was also awarded the Best Junior Cadet trophy for his impressive commitment to become a cadet and finishing his cadet syllabus.

We look forward to seeing the fully-fledged cadets on a range of Squadron and Wing activities in the future!
