Winter 2012 saw the trial for a new junior cadet training program at 2502 (Hamilton). The trial went well so in February it was rolled out to the new intake of recruits.
After a recruitment evening at the beginning of February the new recruits started on the first training program. After the few nights of team building tasks the 15 cadets then proceeded through the training program. The program contains learning about the ATC and RAF, Heartstart, Entry Level Award in Health and Safety, Radio communications and other subjects including uniform care. After 12 weeks the training flight of 13 cadets then approached their passing out.
On a damp evening at the end of May the cadets prepared to be enrolled and passed out into their new flights. In front of the squadrons president Deputy Lord Lieutenant Freda Husain
The cadets passing out on the night were, Cdt R Ali, Cdt H Choudry, Cdt G Dosanjh, Cdt A Diwan, Cdt S Gill, Cdt V Gill, Cdt M Kotecha, Cdt Hossain, Cdt T Mohammed, Cdt L Morrison, Cdt Y Patel, Cdt K Rajaguru and Cdt S Rajaguru.
As the junior cadets progress through the training they gain points and at the end of the course the cadet with the highest points get awarded best recruit. Cdt Louise Morrison was awarded the best recruit and was presented with a certificate at the passing out parade.
Cadets in the other flights were also presented with the certificates gained since the beginning of the year. This was all observed by the new course of recruits starting the second intake of the 2013 junior cadet training program.
