Cadets and Staff from 2070 (Glenfield) Squadron attended the annual Squadron Christmas camp on Friday 29th Nov – Sunday 1st December in Edale, Derbyshire.
The squadron has held its annual Christmas camp at The Peak Centre in Edale for many years and has become something the Cadets and Staff alike look forward to.
On Saturday the cadets completed a day walk across Kinder Scout, this was a great opportunity to put into practice key navigation skills such as setting the map, taking bearings, following linear features and judging distances using pacing and times. The weather was clear and crisp providing the cadets with a fantastic view of the Hope Valley and also Cadets visited the crash site of two Sabre aircraft. The cadets returned to a Christmas dinner with all of the trimmings before an evenings entertainment with games, a Gang Show and a buffet to finish.
On Sunday the Cadets had an indoor climbing session with a qualified instructor where they completed various different climbs in pairs using blindfolds to really put their communication to the test. Afterwards they all visited Mam Tor to view the Hand-gliders and Para-gliders.
All were said to enjoy the weekend and celebrating Christmas together, putting an end to a successful year for the squadron.
