2071 Nominated for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2014!

Article posted: Oct 01, 2013 by Sqn Ldr Pass

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK. This unique UK national honour was created over a decade ago by Her Majesty to mark the Golden Jubilee in 2002 and to recognise the outstanding contributions made to local communities by groups of volunteers; it has an equivalent status for voluntary groups as the MBE has for individuals.

2071 was nominated following its on-going programme of activities, training and support to local events & charities. The squadron received letters of support from The Stamford Branch of the RAF Association, Lincolnshire County Royal British Legion & the Mayor of Stamford which were added to our nomination.

The nomination will now be passed along to the Honours Nomination Panel who will ask Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire to review each nomination and provide feedback. If successful we will receive a certificate signed by The Queen and an exclusive commemorative crystal, presented by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire.
