Cadets from 2071 (Stamford) Squadron Air Training Corps represented Lincolnshire Air Cadets today at the Lincolnshire County Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at RAF College Cranwell.
Corporal Jordan Brackpool (17) carried the squadron standard at the event and was escorted by Corporal Nathaniel Wilkinson (15) and Cadet Michael Hewitt-Hulin (14).
The cadets were invited to take part by Mr Brian Marsden the Lincolnshire County Youth Officer for the Royal British Legion, Mr Marsden has been involved with 2071 Stamford ATC for a few years now and has watched the rapid development they have made over the last year.
“The Squadron is so busy now doing all sorts of activities, they have just added BTEC to their programme and the cadets have come a long way over the last year. I’m really glad they took part, they were very smart and I hope that 2071 Stamford ATC will be even more involved next year.” Said Mr Marsden.
This event was the finale for the weekend as 2071 Stamford ATC cadets had been out helping the Stamford Branch of the Royal British Legion at the Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance in Stamford on Saturday morning and again at the Poppy Appeal Band Concert at the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre on Saturday evening.
Flt Lt Gibson commented: “I’m so proud of the cadets and all of their efforts in supporting the Royal British Legion particularly at this time of year, it was a busy weekend for us I can’t believe we still managed to find some time to fit in a visit to RAF Syerston for three cadets to go Gliding.”
Cadets from 2071 Stamford ATC will be out in the town centre with the Royal British Legion on Saturday 12th November selling poppies and collecting for the Poppy Appeal. Please come along and show your support.
