Cadets and Staff from 2071 (Stamford) Squadron proudly paraded through Stamford Town on Sunday 24th June as part of the Annual Stamford Mayors Sunday Parade.
This year the new Mayor Councillor Bob Sandall, a former 2071 cadet himself, has reconfirmed the Squadrons status as ‘The Mayors Cadets’ and appointed 2071 (Stamford) Squadron as one of the Mayors official charities, it is also hoped that he will be confirmed as Squadron President for his year in office.
Cadets from 2071 were very much involved with the events of the day with the Squadron Standard carried by Corporal Nathaniel Wilkinson. The Squadron was lead by Corporal Kieran Wilkinson while Corporal Tyler Clarke & Cadet Joseph Dawson escorted the town mace and during the service at St Marys’ Church Corporal Lloyd Channing-Bates assisted with the collection.
Following the service the parade marched through the town and back to the Town Hall where the New Mayor raised the Armed Forces Day flag which will fly over the Town Hall for the next week showing the towns commitment to supporting our armed forces.
Following the parade the Squadron was invited into the Town Hall for a reception where the new Mayor thanked the cadets for their efforts and praised their commitment. Pilot Officer Paul Ferguson & Flight Lieutenant Helen Gibson also received many positive comments from civil dignitaries including the Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council Councillor Robert Palmer and RAF Wittering Station Commander Group Captain Hill.
