2071 (Stamford) Squadron opens on ‘strike day’

The Squadron ensign was flying at 2071 (Stamford) Squadron Air Cadets as cadets took advantage of today’s strike action by teachers and public sector workers by opening up the squadron and using the time to get their remaining projects completed in time for the forthcoming South & East Midlands Wing Field Day due to be held at RAF Wittering on Sunday 3rd July.

Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Helen Gibson RAFVR (T) said “It seemed a shame to leave the cadets sitting at home when they could be adding the final touches to their entries for Wing Field Day and parents of affected cadets were pleased that we were opening and offering somewhere for the cadets to go during the day.”

Ten cadets took part in the days activities as not all schools or year groups were affected in the squadrons’ catchment area.
