The cadets completed the Gliding Scholarship in a mix of the Vigilant Powered Glider and the Viking Traditional Glider. Cadet Sergeant Jordan Brackpool and Cadet Katy Rogers successfully passed the course and were awarded their Blue Wings. Cadet Joe Dawson successfully passed the course and flew solo in the Viking Glider gaining his Silver Wings, he is now hoping to go onto to complete the Advanced Glider Training to gain his Gold Wings later in 2012.
The gliding wings are the first on the squadron for quite a while but they won’t be the last! Cadet Corporal Luke Chater is also undertaking a Gliding Scholarship at weekends with 643 Volunteer Gliding School also based at RAF Syerston.
