209 Cadets Enjoy Unexpected Fly Past on DofE Expedition

Seven Air Cadets from 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron have completed the expedition phase of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The seven had to plan a 10 mile route from Belvoir Castle to Saltby Aerodrome and complete it while carrying all their equipment and food for the weekend. When they reached the aerodrome the Cadets were shown around the hanger of the Buckminster Gliding Club and then treated to an unexpected flypast by a World War Two Dakota transport aircraft of the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

After spending the night in tents the Cadets planned their return to Belvoir Castle via a different route.

Lunch break !

The seven Cadets who completed the expedition were Sergeants Jo Hammond and Nathan Armstrong, Corporals Emily Tring and Gareth Hughes and Cadets Adam Wright, Adam Bishop and Ben Hammond.
