One Air Cadet from 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron was amongst 62 other budding Drill enthusiasts who attended the first ever Corps Drill and Ceremonial Camp within the ATC.
Sgt Grace McDonald spent a week at RAF Halton and RAF Northolt with Drill Instructors, Staff and Cadets from all over the ATC and CCF. She was trained in arms drill in hope to be part of a royal review in the future. After perfecting the drills throughout the week, there was then the time to put it all together on the Thursday practicing the continuity arms drill display ready for the parade on Friday. With a visit from Commandant Air Cadets that day, everyone was producing a high standard of Drill in such a short space of time.
Friday, the last day at RAF Northolt, proved to be the hardest day of all, putting their week’s worth of practice into play for the review from AOC 22 Group, followed by the complicated continuity display.
“Attending the first Corps Drill and Ceremonial camp is the best thing I have ever done. I will not forget the interesting time I had. I am ready to go back again next year; it was worth the blisters and bruises!”
