209 Sqn Running Like It’s 1999

Two Air Cadets from 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron competing in the South and East Midlands Wing Cross Country event finished first and second in their group to help 209 Sqn achieve it’s best sporting result since 1999.

Cadets Suzannah Horn and Rosie Dawson completed the 3 mile course at RAF Wittering in freezing cold rain to come first and second in the 13-14 year old girls category. Cadets Mollie Dawson and Laura Toplass were also in the team and finished strongly to help the team come first in the Girls Category. Their contribution significantly helped 209 Sqn to come second in the overall competition between the 29 Squadrons in the South and East Midlands Wing.

209s Sports Officer Sergeant (ATC) Jade Brock said “I was so proud of the achievement of the whole Squadron. I was literally jumping with excitement when I heard the Girls team had come first.”

Flight Lieutenant Steve Richards, Commanding Officer of 209 said “All the Cadets that represented 209 Sqn at Wing Cross Country have done themselves proud. Well done the Girls team for 1st place and an again excellent result, 2nd in the Wing overall one of 209s best results since 1999.”
