A band from 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron has been selected to represent our Region in the Air Training Corps Ensemble Band competition in November. They first had to win the South and East Midlands Wing competition held in May and then at the weekend won against the other top bands from the other 5 Wings in the Central and East Region. Four Cadets made up the band. Cadet Warrant Officer Serena Linley (18) played the guitar and sang, Sergeant Stephanie Willett (17) also sang and played the keyboard, Cadet Grace McDonald (15) was also on the guitar and Flight Sergeant Barnaby Taylor (18) learnt how to play the banjo for the competition.

They played a medley of three songs which were ‘Ho Hay’ by the Luminaries, ‘I Will Wait’ by Munford and Sons and ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ by Taylor Rae

CWO Linley said of competing “Everyone was watching and it was really scary but when we started we just went for it and had a great time. It’s absolutely thrilling to be put forward to the Corps competition!”

209s CO, Flight Lieutenant Steve Richards said “To think that 209 Sqn will be competing as one of the top six Squadrons in the Corps is absolutely amazing!”
