A total of over eighty Air Cadets, Parents, Training Staff and Guests attended 209’s Presentation Evening held on the 20th March.
The evening began with an opening address by Pam Bradley, the Chairman of 209’s Civilian Committee who welcomed the guests of honour the Deputy Mayor of Rushcliffe Councillor Peter McGowan and the Commanding Officer of South and East Midlands Wing ATC, Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson.
After the evening’s meal Flying Officer Steve Richards, OiC of 209 Sqn gave a speech recounting the last 12 months of the Squadron and then announced the winners of the following awards which were all presented by Wg Cdr Dickinson.
Best Cadet – Alex Curtis
Best NCO – Corporal James Greenhalgh
Best New Cadet Award and Drill & Deportment Trophy – Joshua Lee-Taylor
Fieldcraft Award & Community Service Award – George Kirkham
Poppy Trophy for Fund Raising – Cpl Gareth Hughes
Shooting Award – Adam Wright
Sports Award – Cpl Emily Tring
Attendance Award – Kieran Parker

The following promotions were also announced. To Flight Sergeant, Joe Hammond and to Corporal, Alex Curtis, Adam Wright and George Kirkham.
When all the awards and presentations had been given out Wg Cdr Dickinson said “I never would have believed a year ago that I would have seen 209 Sqn in such a strong and healthy position. This is testimony to the hard work and effort the Cadets of 209 Sqn have put in over the last 12 months.”
The evening finished with Fg Off Steve Richards presenting a cheque for the Mayor’s Charity to Councillor Peter McGowan who then spoke about his four years as a Cadet with the Army Cadet Force.
