Over the last couple of parade nights, 10 cadets received their Swimming Competence certificates for completing certain tasks to prove their ability in water.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Nathen Moffatt, Charlie Wilson, Cadet Sergeant Jonny Clulow, Cadet Corporal Craig Harrison, Cadets Max Pierrepoint, Lucy Scott, Olivia Olson, Bradley Scriven, Lani Diggle, Madison Stevenson and Jake Sanderson received the award at the intermediate level.

The intermediate level required cadets to: – Swim 100 metres – 50 metres of back stroke and 50 metres front stroke, – surface dive to and retrieve an object from the deepest part of the pool, – swim 25 metres to a “casualty” and tow over 25 metres and – remain afloat for 3 minutes, which was all completed wearing trousers and a t-shirt.

Cadet Lani Diggle said “I’m not the most able-swimmer, but completing this has really boosted my confidence in the pool!”
