Dedication. Motivation. Hard-work.
Over the last weekend, Cadet Corporal Ethan Bates attended the Cadet Drill Camp. This course was held at RAF Wittering, starting on Friday night and finishing Sunday night.
This course was run for cadets across the wing with one requirement, which was to pass the Initial NCO course beforehand.
The Drill course consisted of lessons which were in order to gain extra knowledge about drill. The lessons were about AP818, ACP1358c, Drill Mutual and many more. Following on from the lessons, they also carried out many assessments, which included an open and closed book exam and doing a Drill Mutual.
A Drill Mutual is a set structure of teaching a certain drill movement. Breaking it down into several parts and then relaying it onto several cadets.
Cpl Bates said “This course was a fun weekend where I got to meet up with people from all over the wing. I also gained a higher knowledge of drill which I can hopefully pass on to cadets on the squadron and I’d recommend this course to anyone out there as it’s a great qualification to have in your cadet career.”
