22 New First Aiders for Long Eaton

Twenty two cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron have achieved their Heartstart First Aid Awards. Throughout 2010 the cadets of 2195 Squadron have received training from Civilian Instructor Louisa Theyers, herself new to the Air Training Corps.

The Heartstart award comprises of basic first aid training covering:

• assessing an unconcious patient;
• performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
• dealing with choking;
• serious bleeding;
• helping someone that maybe having a heat attack.

The 22 cadets achieving the award will continue to progress their first aid training during 2011 whilst 14 new Junior Cadets are already progressing towards achieving the Heartstart Award in 2011.
