Loughborough Air Cadets had a half term treat with a visit to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. The main purpose of the visit was to visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the cadets were not disappointed. The memorial flight has its own service hanger at the base and some very knowledgeable guides, who explained the history of the each of the aircraft present, took the cadets around the hanger. These included a Lancaster, a Dakota and several Spitfires and Hurricanes.

Following lunch the cadets came right up to date with a visit to 29R squadron, the home to one of the latest Typhoon training facilities. The aircraft were flying all day and provided the cadets with an excellent display of this magnificent aircraft. The ground crew at 29R squadron also explained the aircrafts role and capabilities as they walked around the hanger.
The cadets parade at the Loughborough TA Centre from 7pm on Monday and Thursday nights. Feel free to browse our website at www.2229.org.uk.
