2229 Help Padre at Church Events

Article posted: Dec 16, 2013 by Sqn Ldr Mayoh-Smith

On behalf of the Church of the Good Shepherd, “THANK YOU” for all the help 2229(Loughborough) Squadron have given to the Church these past few weeks.

Firstly: Thank you for organising and helping out with the Parish Leaflet Drop. It was an awful evening, and yet the Cadets, supported by Staff and Committee members, bravely fought the elements and managed to distribute many of the leaflets. These had information about the Squadron Carol Service together with details of our Christmas Services and Christmas Market.

Secondly: Many thanks to the following who came to help at our Christmas Market yesterday from about 08.45 to 14.00 hrs, by manning the stalls, standing outside in an icy wind whilst wearing Santa and Snowman hats in order to draw attention to the activities, and helping to clear up after the event:-

Sgt Clark
Sgt Kent
Sgt Wilcock
Cpl Wilcok
Cdt Purvis
Cdt Kinnear-Swift
Cdt Sattersthwaite
Cdt Pearson
Cdt Cooper
Cdt Laing

All of the above were really helpful, looked smart, presented themselves well and were exemplary in their attitudes and behaviour. Thank you all for being so willing to take on board whatever task was given to you – even dressing as Elves!

As a Church, we have a predominantly elderly Congregation and we would really struggle without the help given by the Squadron, and we all appreciate not only your help, but also your cheerful presence.

So, thank you, and may God deeply bless you all this Christmas and throughout 2014.

With best wishes.

Rev’d Rosie Whitley.
