2229 Squadron gains two new Civilian Instructors!

Article posted: Jan 23, 2013 by Sqn Ldr Mayoh-Smith

2229 (Loughborough) Squadron Air Training Corps recently official gained two new civilian instructors to help out at the squadron. Duncan Ferguson, who has been a member of the squadron for a few years on and off, has been put in charge of media on the squadron ensuring that the cadets’ antics are documented as much as possible in the press. He is also in charge of creating all the publications the squadron use on a week-by-week basis. Duncan has served a short time with the RAF Regiment so when he’s not busy being creative he teaches the cadets in the ways of leadership and fieldcraft. Elaine Davies joined the squadron at the back end of June and has become a very valuable member of the team. She recently was put in charge of health and safety on the squadron bringing a wealth of knowledge from her civilian role as Chair of the Governors at the Beacon Academy in Shelthorpe. Elaine was also a serving member of the RAF as a Steward and has been able to pass on valuable lessons to the cadets in both etiquette and has even made what is revered to as a boring lesson in the history of the RAF into a fun one. Both Duncan and Elaine look forward to their continued service with the cadets and are hoping to enter uniformed service later on in the year.

The cadets parade at the Loughborough TA Centre from 7pm on Monday and Thursday nights. Feel free to browse our website at www.2229.org.uk .
