Recently, FS Holmes from 2418 (Sherwood) Squadron, attended the 35th Annual RAF WARMA 2-day march held at RAF Cosford. FS Holmes was joined by both Military and Civilian personnel, from all over the world to participate in the 50-mile march. The walk was used as a qualifying march for the Annual Nijmegen march this July in Holland.

Both mornings started with a 5am wake up, ready for breakfast at 5:30am. The chemistry within the South and East Midlands team ensured the march was thoroughly enjoyed by all with only little complications. The first day was completed with no stress or injuries and spirits were high! On the second day, we were joined by Air Commandant Dawn Mcafferty who loved our sing songs (Oh Sir Redwood) and team morale. She was extremely impressed with how the team gelled together and could see the hard work we had put in over the months.

After leaving the final check point, the morale was so high that the team were practically jogging to the end! Receiving our medals at the end was all worth the blisters and the tired legs.

FS Holmes said: “WARMA was one of my favourite cadet events to date and I would love to attend again next year to gain my number 2 badge. I enjoyed speaking to people from all over the world and hearing about their training. The blisters were all worth it.”

The next march will be 40 miles at Waendel.
