I recently went to Bedford’s athletics track to compete for South and East midlands wing in shot put and discuss. It couldn’t have been a better day the sun was out with no clouds and for a first no wind. The atmosphere was amazing with everyone in our wing cheering each other on while they did their events and everyone interacted and got to know each other. When I went over to my Shot Put I was unsure what I would come up against, people who train this event everyday or someone who has never done it before? Luckily I gave 100% effort and it pulled off I got 11m and just came first ahead of someone else who got 10.98cm. Then I had discuss and I prefer shot put a lot more than discuss so it seemed to show as I came second to someone I originally beat at shot put.

As the day was coming to a close all the wings gathered around to hear the overall results. We came 4th in boys, 1st in youths(my category), 2nd in junior men, 1st on girls, joint 2nd in junior women’s and overall 1st! Overall it was an incredible day for South and East Midlands cadets!
