Cadets and Staff of 2502 (Hamilton) Squadron spent the weekend helping out at Great Central Railway.
Each year the Great Central Railway hold their Wartime weekend, this year Hamilton squadron stepped in to help out. They manned the Rothley station helping out in the ticket office, on the level crossing and general tasks around the station. Cadets also got to enjoy the train and other stations in their breaks taking in the atmosphere of the weekend.
Each of the stations represent different areas, Loughborough was the Homefront, Quorn the Allied Forces, Rothley was German occupied and the last station Birstall was in France for the weekend. Activities over the weekend ranged from 1940’s singer to battle re-enactment. There was a flypast by a spitfire Sunday afternoon. The cadets also took part in the final parade on the Sunday afternoon where there was a poppy drop from a low flying aircraft.
