2502 Cadets McFly at RAF Wittering

Cadets and Staff of 2502 (Hamilton) Air Cadets joined cadets from 1101 (Kettering) Squadron Air Cadet at the annual RAF Wittering Families Day.

On one of the hottest days of the year the cadets and staff ran the climbing wall for the families and friends of RAF Wittering. The wall was visited by many people throughout the day. One of the first visitors was the new station commander, Group Captain Damian Alexander BSc MA FCMI RAF with his son who took on the challenge of the climbing wall.

The cadets were working really hard in the searing heat guiding kids and parents up the Climbing wall. Part way through the day the Help the Heroes Bear came to say hello but sadly couldn’t climb the wall due having his leg in plaster.

Later on in the afternoon the wall was also visited by Harry Judd of McFly and Strictly Come Dancing fame, he stood and spoke to the cadets for several minutes. He talked to cadet about his band mate Tom Fletcher, Tom is a former air cadet and he has now gone onto get his pilots licence.

The day concluded with a fly past from a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire. Cadet Mercedes Petrie and Cadet Louise Morrison commented with a big smile on their faces “We’ve had a really good day and want to do it all again, our highlight has to be meeting Harry Judd”
