2502 flying high at RAF Cosford

At 8am on Sunday 17th June, Staff, cadets and family of 2502 (Hamilton) squadron climbed aboard their “executive coach” all ready for a road trip. With Alvin and the chipmunks playing on the DVD Player the coach set off for a day at RAF Cosford Airshow.

Just as Alvin finished we arrived at RAF Cosford. With plenty to see and do, the cadets and staff set off to the hangers full of aircraft, displays and activities. The Cold War Museum building was a sight to behold. How did they get so many aircraft in one building??

A challenge was set, Stickers!! Flight points for whoever could collect the greatest number of stickers on the day. Needless to say, we now have plenty to hand out at recruiting events.

A shower or two didn’t dampen the spirits, after varying amounts of chips, burgers and donuts. It was time to look skywards for the display aircraft, included WWI aircraft, meteor & vampire, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Red Arrows. Right up to the current RAF aircraft of the Tucano, Tornado, Typhoon and the Apache Helicopter. Finishing off with a great aerobatic display from the Royal Air Force Association sponsored “Blades”.

So now it was time to go home, having gained an extra passenger of the goldfish variety, we all climbed back on the “executive coach” and settle down to watch robots on the way home. I good day was had by all.
