2502 (Hamilton) Air Cadets at Leicestershire and Rutland Armed Forces Day Parade

2502 (Hamilton) Air Training Corps paraded alongside other Air Cadets from Leicestershire to show their support for Armed Forces. The Air Training Corps was represented very well with over 100 cadets and staff.

The celebration started with a service of commemoration and thanksgiving, this was to honour Britain’s Armed Forces, Past, Present and Future. Present at the service were the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Jennifer, Lady Gretton, many Deputy Lord Lieutenants and other dignitaries. Representatives from the Leicestershire based Armed Forces both regular and territorial. Great emphasis was placed on the cadets making sure they prominently placed in the service.

Following the service there was a parade from High Street, lead by the Seaforth Highlanders Band. Parading were Veterans, current serving members of the armed forces and cadets, representing the Past, Present and the Future of the Armed Forces. As the parade marched towards the clock tower hundreds of people lined the route, cheering and clapping. The salute was taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Jennifer, Lady Gretton at the clock tower and parade proceeded onto Humberstone Gate where the parade was dismissed. The organisers commented “Our Armed Forces day parade started from humble beginning 4 years ago. It’s grown into such a large parade, with all elements of the Armed Forces and youth organisations being represented. It’s always wonderful to see so many Air Cadets present to represent the future of the Royal Air Force.”
