As 2015 start cadets and staff of 2502 (Hamilton) Squadron Air Cadet reflect back on what they participated in 2014.
2014 was one of the busiest years that 2502 had in many years, the last six month being particular busy. Out of the last 26 weekends some or all the cadets or staff committed to 22 of those weekends.
Activities varied from Car Parking at the Bedfordshire Steam Rally, Operation Shadow in Sherwood Forest to representing Leicester Air Cadets at the Festival of Remembrance and even picking up the wing media trophy for 2013-14.
Flt Lt Andy Faulkner was asked about his reflections “2014 was a very challenging year but we managed to overcome all the issues. We were very community facing helping with the refurbishment of the Evington War Memorial. I was particularly proud of the drumhead service the cadets took part in to mark the Remembrance Service 100 years from the start of World War 1”.
All the achievement were pulled together at the squadrons Annual Dining in night. Many trophies, certificates and promotions were given out on the Night. The main trophy of the night being the Flight of the Year which awarded to A Flight.
As the squadron moves into 2015 it looks forward to the new challenges it will face, one of its largest being the start of their new building as the planning permission has now been approved. Hopefully 2015 will be a bigger and better year than 2014.
