2502 (Hamilton) Air Cadets started their summer events off on Saturday at Evington Village Fete.
The hard work started on Friday evening as cadets and staff helped with the setting up of the marquee and site, including miles of bunting. The cadets were there bright and early on Saturday morning doing all the final preparations before the Fete opened at 11:30.
The Fete was opened officially by The High Bailiff of Leicester Councillor Ted Cassidy MBE and also in attendance was Councillor Deepak Bajaj.
The cadets spent the afternoon supporting the organisers of the fete and helping staff fundraise. At the end of the fete, the committee announced the winners of the competition. 2502 cadets were pronounced the winners of the group entry scarecrow competition.
As the fete drew to a close the cadets went into action again, helping with all the clearing and tidying of the village green.
Members of the organising committee commented “the cadets are always so polite and smart, they’re a really great ambassadors for both 2502 squadron and the air cadets. Year after year they are key helpers on the weekend.”
