Cadets and staff from 348 (ilkeston) Sqn recently paid their respects to the 6 crew of a wellington bomber who died in a crash in 1942 in the local area. A memorial was erected in 2004 in the general area of the crash although the wreckage was spread over a mile in total. Also present were the Mayor of Erewash, local ex servicemans associations and families of the victims. The Mayor said “it is important that this brave crew, along with all those who have given their lives, past and present for their country, are remembered, as well as their family and friends”
