504 Attend ATC Sunday

Article posted: Feb 10, 2012 by Sqn Ldr Wilson

On Sunday 5th February 2012, exactly 71 years since the ATC was formed, cadets from 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron gathered in St John the Baptist Church for a special service for ATC Sunday. Despite the snowy conditions there was still a good turnout.

This day also marked a special event where seven new cadets were enrolled. After a short welcome the service began with a hymn followed by some readings by the cadets, once this was done all the cadets recited the ATC prayer. This was followed by a speech from Flt Lt Butler, which was about the ATC and 504 Squadron, as 2012 marks its 30th anniversary.

The time then came for the seven cadets to get enrolled, this involved making the Air Cadet Promise and receiving a Certificate of Achievement, a Log Book, an ATC Bible and a handshake from Flt Lt Butler and the Padre.

The service finalised in a hymn, a prayer, a blessing and the National Anthem, there was also cakes and tea for afterwards whilst photos were being taken.

If any 13 to 17 year olds are interested in taking up the challenge of the Air cadets, please contact the squadron on a Tuesday or Thursday evening between 7pm and 9pm or visit the 504 Sqn Website,
