On Sunday 8th November 2009 504 (West Nottingham) Sqn remembered those that have lost their lives in the name of freedom since the First World War to present day conflicts.
At 9.30 in the morning staff and cadets met at the Wollaton branch of the Royal British legion in preparation for the short march to St Leonard’s church in Wollaton village.
In a sombre service the names of the fallen from the area were read out followed by the last post and two minutes silence; following the reveille the wreaths were laid.
About half way though the service the rector Revd. Jerry Lepine interviewed Mike and Maureen McCormack whose son is currently serving in Afghanistan.
After the service the Royal British Legion, the standards, 504 and the scouts formed up outside the church for the short march back to the British Legion club house.
