504 Sqn get a new “Whistleblower”
Article posted: Jun 17, 2008 by Sqn Ldr FlynnA Cadet from 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron based in Bilborough, Nottingham has had a major success in completing her Community Sports Leaders Award (CSLA).
Cadet Flight Sergeant Ashleigh Blacknell (16 yrs old) from Bilborough, Nottingham has successfully passed the Level 2 – Community Sports Leaders Award Course, at RAF Cosford near Wolverhampton.
Flt Lt Paul Woodward, Officer Commanding, said “Ashleigh has made an outstanding personal accomplishment in getting onto and passing this course. The CSLA a national course; to be selected to attend this course is an achievement in itself, then along with a week of Physical Educational Training on top makes this a hard course.”
The week includes modules on: Organisation and delivering sports activity sessions; Establishing and maintaining a safe sporting activity; Understanding the structure of sport and recreation in the UK; Understanding and leading fitness sessions; Principles and practice in running sporting events and competitions; Principles and practice in adapting sports activities.
Flt Sgt Blacknell said “The week long course was amazing but tiring; I have even managed to secure employment with David Lloyd Health & Racquets Club, Nottingham – which will assist me in my voluntary leadership commitment”.
