On Saturday 24th March 2012, cadets from 504 (West Nottingham) Sqn went flying at RAF Collage Cranwell. Although it was a misty morning, it soon cleared to make way for a sunny, warm spring day. This meant all the cadets were able to go flying.
Cadet Morris, a first time flyer said “ I was afraid at first during the wait, but i managed to do a loop and barrel roll. unfortunately, afterward i was sick. However the thrill of flying still remains with the more experienced cadets; “ It was my 8th time flying, and the best so far. I did Nine different types of areobatics, which is the most I’ve done in the space of twenty minutes.” said CCpl Yorke.
The Cadets all returned tired but with smiling faces. Cdt Foster’s comment on flying sums up the day perfectly: “ Flying is an amazing, exhilarating and uplifting experience.”
If any 13 to 17 year olds are interested in taking up the challenge of the Air cadets, please contact the squadron on a Tuesday or Thursday evening between 7pm and 9pm or visit the 504 Sqn Website, www.504sqnatc.org.uk
