On Monday the 22nd October 858 (Rushden) Squadron ATC opened their doors and welcomed over 40 parents and friends of the Squadron to their Annual General Meeting.
The staff and cadets at 858 were overwhelmed with the amount of visitors that came flooding through the doors. The guests ranged from Rushden and Raunds Town Mayors, along with the Chairman of the East Northants Council to local representatives from the Royal British Legion and serving RAF Regiment personnel. It is safe to say this was the most successful AGM that the squadron has hosted for many years.
The first half of the night was dedicated to the last year’s review of activities and fund raising. Rushden Squadron were lucky to have been awarded a Lottery Grant to which the Civilian Committee detailed how those funds were put to good use. The Lottery Grant was secured by a lot of hard work and perseverance from the Civilian Committee and the past Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Emelye Towell.
After the information presentation by the Civilian Committee there was a small refreshment break before all the guests were invited to participate in a few activities. The guests were treated to presentations in First Aid where Corporal Kieran Fowler and Corporal Reece Poole helped teach some basic lifesaving skills to the guests. Next there was a presentation from Pilot Officer VR(T) Colin Harmer about the Flight Simulator project that has started to run on the squadron.
