A Good Start to Heartstart

Article posted: May 06, 2011 by Sqn Ldr Utting

Back in March, 25 cadets from Hamilton Squadron have successfully completed their HeartStart training. Over a number of nights, Squadron Leader Utting, Mayoh-Smith and Sergeant ATC Geoff Elliott help train and asses the cadets. Cadets were taught the basics of first aid like CPR and dealing with some one choking.

Sgt ATC Elliott has his work cut out to train all new recruits. Being ex-RAF Regiment and part of his role in the RAF was first aid, he is championing the revival of first aid training on the unit.
Junior Cadet Carr said: “I’ve only been in the ATC a few weeks and I already have my first certificate.”

Officer Commanding 2502 Sqn said: “This is a great achievement for the cadets, and now with one of our own staff member able to teach Heart Start, we can continue the training for all new recruits.
“I would also like to thank Squadron Leaders Utting and Mayoh-smith for there time and support in getting this project started.”
