A Wigston Air Cadet is on cloud nine following qualifying as a glider pilot with the Air Cadets.

Aaron Cole (17) who is a cadet Sergeant with 1461 Wigston Sqn also volunteers most weekends at the local Volunteer Gliding School at RAF Syerston, Nottinghamshire. Whilst there he undertakes important roles he has been trained for in supporting the instructor pilots whilst they train other Air Cadets.

Whilst doing this, Aaron continues to be an active member of the youth organisation and is on hand twice a week to offer the expertise he has gained, as well as continuing his studies at collage.

Flt Lt Tim Hargraves, Officer Commanding 1461 Sqn, said “ We are very proud of Aaron, and we are very pleased that he has reached the level that he has done. It won’t be long before he reaches the next level of pilot training and will be able to instructor others in the principles of flight and in particular soaring in the glider”
